When I interviewed Dr. Stewart Prest, a political science lecturer at the University of British Columbia, we spoke about many different topics. Unfortunately to narrowly focus the interview for this week's show (and to make time for my other guests) I had to cut much more of our chat than I had wanted – and more than I would have deemed fair to Prest – after he graciously offered me time from his busy schedule.

Therefore, I've decided to go ahead and publish the entire interview in full here. This file contains everything in this week's edition of the show and more. Including the relative value of Ontario Premier Doug Ford enacting, and quickly withdrawing, an electricity surcharge for American power purchasers – and whether that move was decided unilaterally or with the quiet support of the feds; Prest discusses the ways in which it appears U.S. president Donald Trump and Russian Dictator Vladimir Putin are carving up modern spheres of influence; and Prest looks at some of the parallels in history with this moment of political instability in Canada and the world.
